Overview

The Associate Director will assist in developing long-term client plans and program recommendations, generating recommendations, and creating presentations. They will also manage multiple accounts and time-sensitive deliverables daily and have no problem meeting deadlines and regularly achieving more than what is asked. Additional responsibilities include maintaining key media relationships, conducting in-depth research and analysis, and managing unique special situations that may arise. This position is based in our New York City office.

 

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

 

  • Serve as the day-to-day client contact and is responsible for keeping client engagements on schedule, effectively drawing from relevant Finsbury Glover Hering teams and resources to deliver best-in-class service
  • Draft written materials (e.g., communications plans, strategy memos, rollouts, press releases, message tracks, pitch letters, Q&As, etc.) that may require editing.
  • Assist in developing long-term client plans and program recommendations, developing budgets, generating recommendations, and creating presentations
  • Ensure client teams are proactive and highly responsive to client needs, anticipating upcoming deliverables and taking accountability for proper execution
  • Review and edit the communication materials developed by junior staff

BUSINESS AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

  • Build a professional network
  • Participate in new business development for the group and collaborates among practice areas around the firm to support new business pitches
  • Serve as direct manager for one or two junior staff, working closely with them on their professional growth and development
  • Evaluate staff performance, actively engage staff to work on achieving developmental goals, and recommend and implement solutions should performance problems exist
  • Participate in the recruiting and hiring process by interviewing candidates, providing feedback, evaluating writing assignments, and making recommendations for hiring

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six years of relevant experience in communications (agency), legal, public affairs, journalism, or related areas.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and critical thinking skills, including a strong ability to think strategically
  • Possess a strong understanding of how to navigate various types of communications challenges and opportunities and demonstrates analytical strength and focused creativity
  • Thrive under pressure, with the ability to handle multiple projects in a demanding, deadline-oriented environment while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
  • Has strong research skills and can quickly assemble sophisticated written materials based on thorough and accurate research
  • Familiarity with current financial and economic events and news trends
  • Experience with high-intensity corporate assignments
  • Organized, proactive, and self-motivated; anticipate upcoming client projects and deliverables
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
