Job Description

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Senior Director, Leadership Programs and Communications, to create internal programs and events that inform leaders and colleagues about the company’s strategic business priorities, cultural initiatives, and large-scale change. The Senior Director will work closely with the Global Head of Employee Communications and Engagement on signature programs, special projects, and high-profile communications as needed, with a particular focus on enterprise transformation communications. The Senior Director will lead enterprise events, including a regular cadence of employee all-staff meetings, high-touch executive forums and ad hoc organization-wide events. This role also will create and drive a measurement and metrics strategy for internal events.



  • Develop thoughtful events and communications campaigns designed to educate employees about Visa’s purpose, strategy, and leadership principles.

  • Lead communications for internal programs that drive a deep connection to Visa’s purpose, strategy, and culture.

  • Work closely with colleagues across the Communications organization, particularly business and regional leads, to ensure message alignment and to generate agenda and content ideas.

  • Produce internal events, including monthly broadcasts, quarterly all-staff meetings, and other ad hoc programs, with interactive elements for global viewers working in a hybrid (remote/in-person) environment.

  • Oversee all elements of live internal events, from agenda development and theming, through day-of execution.

  • Oversee end-to-end event production, partnering with leadership and the technology team to ensure flawless execution.

  • Design and execute annual high-touch leadership conference for senior executives.

  • Deliver events with a wow factor while managing vendors to stay within budget.

  • Create a standard benchmark to measure the effectiveness internal events across the enterprise and partner with other communications leads to assess and refine their events and channels.

  • Embed robust analytics and measurement processes into event planning.

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate relevant metrics to stakeholders to demonstrate event effectiveness and drive ongoing improvement.

  • In partnership with Internal Digital Platform Communications colleagues and the technology team, design and create new ways of reaching employees in a hybrid environment, focused on leveraging digital assets to drive colleague engagement.

  • Develop campaigns, messages, and other elements of a strategic communications plan, as needed.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.


Basic Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
• Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related discipline required.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or another relevant area strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
• 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
• Deep experience in shaping communications strategies and creating messaging frameworks that align and reinforce a company’s purpose, strategy, and culture.
• Ability to synthesize business issues into programs, agendas, and content that address challenges and celebrate key milestones.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated understanding of the impact that written and design communications make.
• Keen sense of design and visual content for production materials.
• Unflappable in high-pressure environments.
• Ability to pivot quickly and respond with urgency.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Outstanding project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Sound business judgment and experience “connecting the dots” among seemingly unrelated topics.

This role may be located in New York, San Francisco, Foster City, Austin, Atlanta. The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 148400 USD to 240000 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location of applicant. In addition, this position is eligible for bonus and equity.
