When you come work with us, here’s what you’ll find:

Work that is meaningful. We only work with clients who are changing the world. And, we say no to clients if we don’t believe in their cause or if we can’t help them.

Colleagues you can count on. Kind, dedicated, passionate people who bring the smarts, get things done, and help you to do your best, too.

So that’s us. Now about the work:

We run innovative and strategic advocacy, organizing, and electoral campaigns that build grassroots power, shift public opinion, put pressure on decision makers, and create lasting change.

  • Day-to-day, we’re working hand-in-hand with nonprofit clients like Planned Parenthood, NRDC, the Fight for $15, SEIU, Human Rights Campaign, Feeding America, League of Conservation Voters, National Education Association, Supermajority, and the Vera Institute of Justice to figure out how to win elections, drive the narrative, influence policy, hold corporations and politicians accountable, recruit activists, make the most of news moments, and magnify the voices of impacted communities. We leave no idea unconsidered that might build power, from social media influencers to massive digital ad campaigns to innovative PR tactics to state-level field campaigns to relational organizing.

  • Our electoral work focuses not just on winning elections but building long-term organizing and mobilizing infrastructure that can hold people in power accountable. We have a particular focus on developing new models to mobilize infrequent voters in marginalized communities.

Here’s what you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Lead teams of 2-10 M+R staff to help conceive and win issue advocacy campaigns for 3-6 clients at a time focused on:

    • Passing laws at the federal, state, or local levels

    • Driving changes to administrative and executive policies

    • Changing corporate behavior

    • Electoral turnout, persuasion, or motivation

  • Lead campaign planning at the outset of client engagements: crafting goals, theories of change, message development, power mapping, stakeholder engagement and partnerships, metrics and measurable outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely with senior leaders across M+R who work in Digital Organizing, Media Relations, Social Media, and Advertising. Leverage M+R resources or bring in outside consultants as needed, managing client resources and budgets.

  • Contribute significantly to driving new business:

    • Maintain an active network in nonprofit, electoral, and philanthropic spaces to build relationships and find new opportunities.

    • Craft compelling proposals and pitches to win new business, and seek ways to integrate campaign strategy services across the firm’s business development efforts.

  • Stay abreast of new trends inside and outside M+R, and use that knowledge to inform your work, educate other staff, and provide thought leadership in the broader movement – writing M+R blog posts, analyses, or reports, and seeking out speaking opportunities at conferences.

  • In addition to leading client teams, potentially be the direct supervisor for 2-3 staff – being proactive about their professional development and well-being.

  • Be a visible and vocal presence by actively contributing to our organizational culture and building inclusive spaces within your teams and across M+R.

  • Travel as needed for client meetings, pitch meetings, conferences, and internal M+R team meetings.

  • Do your part to help us run smoothly, including carefully tracking all of your hours.
