ADVOC8 is looking for an experienced Director of Growth Marketing to lead the development and implementation of all agency marketing initiatives to drive successful lead generation and sales conversion. The Role:

A crucial part of the sales and marketing team at ADVOC8, the Director of Growth Marketing is responsible for overseeing all agency marketing efforts. This person deeply understands ADVOC8’s industry, objectives and nuances, ensuring that team members are set up for success with persuasive, cohesive materials that enhance the agency’s reputation while also driving sales. They have responsibility for growing the agency’s external reputation and ensuring success for ADVOC8 through a strategic, comprehensive approach that focuses on creating sustainable, enduring brand equity.

This role is accountable for:

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy defining key priorities, KPIs, and implementation timeline across all agency marketing efforts
  • Establish regular reporting processes to provide actionable insights and ROI measurement
  • Relentlessly monitor and prioritize top-performing areas to drive outsized lead generation and sales growth
  • Embrace and help shape ADVOC8’s brand voice externally, building on existing efforts and brand guidance while adapting it where necessary across platforms
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets
  • Develop and implement repeatable, low-lift marketing campaigns that regularly highlight agency work and positioning, while delivering outsized ROI relative to development cost
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues on brand initiatives, templated external-facing content and easy-to-find internal resources
  • Work with colleagues in Sales & Marketing to build and maintain target customer lists and client information within agency CRM platform
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of agency website, email marketing initiatives, and inbound sales channels, including monthly analytics reviews
  • Monitor and analyze competitors' messaging, positioning, brand presence, etc; synthesize information in support of ADVOC8’s integrated marketing strategy
  • Participate in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives, as needed
  • Areas of responsibility may include (subject to prioritization established in overall marketing plan): organic social, paid media (digital), content marketing, thought leadership, award submissions, external agency communications, and more
  • Serve as internal expert on marketing strategies, trends and reporting analysis
  • Pro-actively engage across departments as necessary (e.g. Sales & Marketing, Client Services, Creative, Strategy) to optimize efforts and create cohesive external-facing products
  • Partner with other teams to ensure all marketing deliverables are successfully tailored to agency objectives, while working efficiently and meeting deadlines
  • Ensure that ADVOC8 values and priorities are being considered in how our agency and its work is described and shown
  • Support other sales engagement activity within the Sales & Marketing team’s portfolio, as needed
    • Meeting quarterly or annual inbound sales targets, as established (collaboratively) in overall agency planning
    • Shared responsibility towards overall Sales & Marketing Crew target for quarterly or annual New Client sales (inbound or outbound)
    • Establishing sustainable, repeatable processes for agency marketing strategy long-term
    • Maintaining positive relationships with team members


  • 4-8 years of professional experience working in an agency or brand environment
  • 4+ years of experience developing and implementing marketing initiatives in an agency or brand environment
  • Superb writing skills, with a masterful ability to capture a brand’s voice and tone consistently and strategically
  • An eye for great content that provides value both to the brand author and the recipient
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to smartly prioritize, coordinate with others, and adhere to deadlines
  • Savvy interpersonal skills, able to navigate colleagues’ busy schedules with a combination of kindness, thoughtfulness and proactive planning (many supporting colleagues balance marketing assistance amongst regular client work)
  • Relentless curiosity and some technical understanding when it comes to analytics, reporting processes, and regular development of data-driven insights to drive decision-making
  • Target audience understanding is helpful, though not required
  • Psyched to help create the foundation for a dynamic agency’s next chapter of growth
  • Bonus: Able to create low-lift creative content through a DIY platform like Canva or Jitter, while following ADVOC8 brand guidelines

We have transitioned from a once Washington D.C.-based agency to being Washington, D.C.-born. This position is not location-based, though travel may occasionally be required for team offsites or gatherings.
