Overview

Job Summary:
The Center for Healthy Minds' (CHM) mission is to cultivate well-being and relieve suffering through a scientific understanding of the mind.

If you're an energetic, detail-driven, self-starter with professional graphic design, video and photography experience and a passion for communicating, consider applying for this new 50% role (based on a 40-hour work week) on our small team and help shape the future of CHM's creative services area.

As Multimedia Designer, you'll work closely with the Director of Communications & Marketing and other staff to develop and implement strategies to broadly share scientific findings, news, programs and events, as well as contribute to Center-wide goals related to reach, engagement, diversity, inclusion and philanthropic impact.

Professional experience using Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design, video and photography production, editing and file preparation are essential for this role. You'll design graphics for use on web and social media as well as print and multimedia materials (ex. flyers, reports, mailings, signage), using established brand standards, to support a variety of fundraising, donor stewardship and general awareness campaigns and events. You'll record and edit video of events and create promotional videos. You'll also take and edit photographs of/for events, staff and advertising purposes.

Clear and compassionate communication with a wide variety of stakeholders from various backgrounds is also important to this role. In addition to communications and marketing staff, your daily interactions may involve members of CHM's philanthropy, programming, research and operations teams, as well as external partners and vendors.

Your attention to detail and project management skills will help you execute design projects from intake to delivery. You'll balance collaborative work with independently managing priorities and tasks to move work forward.

In addition to posting content and collaborating on front-end web design, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate on website and brand development as well as assessing processes and software solutions, as we embark on updates to modernize and ensure accessibility and efficiency. As a key CHM brand ambassador, you will help maintain quality and integrity of brand image and voice across all platforms and have an opportunity to provide training opportunities to staff. You will use and manage existing software and equipment for design and production purposes as well as make recommendations for future needs.

Our work is fast-paced, exciting and challenging, as research, innovation and global impact involve a broad spectrum of work, unexpected opportunities and shifting priorities. Your ability to jump in, learn, communicate, collaborate and prioritize will help you thrive in this role. As we support CHM's vision of a kinder, wiser, more compassionate world, we too wish to embody these qualities in our work environment and support of one another. We do this with a balance of flexible work environment and community time, training offerings and the opportunity to contribute to unique, impactful work.

Equity and inclusion are integral to achieving the vision of the Center for Healthy Minds. We seek candidates with an awareness of and commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion across all spectrums. Because inequities in our societies, including the fields of science and academia, disproportionately harm the most marginalized members of our society - especially women and Black, Indigenous, People of Color - we believe that these identities must be centered in the work of our center. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized groups. If this role speaks to you, we encourage you to apply.
