VP, Head of Design & Creative, CNX

CNX, our marketing, creative strategy, and production department is responsible for harnessing that power and passion to create and execute the industry’s most compelling programs, initiatives and partnerships.

The VP, Head of Design & Creative leads the creative and design functions at CNX, reporting into the SVP, U.S. CNX. The ideal candidate is a proven leader and interdisciplinary thinker, focused on continually improving the creative elements that make our commercial offerings irresistible to advertisers and audiences alike. They’ll bring observations of design, language, and the world around them to develop and champion bold, smart ideas and creative approaches to solving our clients’ problems. 

The VP, Head of Design & Creative sits at the center of creativity and revenue at Condé Nast. Critical for this leadership role is the ability to inspire, create and sustain a culture of creative brilliance. The ideal candidate will foster a culture conducive to boundary- breaking thinking, and will also be ready to implement innovative practices on creating high performing assets, from marketing materials and pitch decks to omni-channel branded content programs, in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, develop and own the creative strategy for CNX 

Create systems, behaviors and design solutions with a high level of craft 

Bring passion for new creative thinking and bold ideas

Build and grow a team of creatives and designers that can deliver on daily business needs and strategic, visionary work

Work cross-functionally, balancing the needs of our brands and our clients and breaking down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas

Serve as a manager, mentor and team member—directing, inspiring and doing

Own the creative product that leaves the office, continually critiquing and ensuring industry-leading quality

Anticipate problems that may impede a project from completing on time and implement solutions

Develop partners and clients that will help us generate new business opportunities and relationships 

Remain current with visual and storytelling trends 

Network with our global creative teams to share ideas, knowledge and resources

Essential Skills & Requirements

10+ years leading creative teams in the world of media, marketing, advertising

Proven leadership ability

Prior success at a leading media company, or a progressive advertising/ideas/digital agency

Demonstrated ability to tell stories about brands to multiple audiences, through breakthrough design and creativity, with strong media savvy

A track record of producing award winning work at one or more top-tier awards festivals

Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design and experiential, and a fascination with that translates to marketing campaigns and other brand experiences
