Position Summary

The Director of Marketing will lead the organization’s marketing strategy, manage and steward Bridgespan’s brand, facilitate aligned internal and external communications, and analyze market trends and dynamics.  While implementation of the marketing strategy and plan will be a team effort across positions and functions, the Director will be accountable for coordinating these efforts. 


  • Align the organization around the brand’s direction and associated choices and tactics; monitor and manage Bridgespan’s external positioning in the market
  • Monitor market landscape and trends and research competitors’ activities
  • Evaluate, develop and communicate firm-wide marketing strategy and marketing plan
  • Oversee the development, design, distribution, and maintenance of high-quality print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, the annual report, brochures, presentations and reports working in close collaboration with various partners and directors
  • Maintain and revise brand and services language as new products and offerings are developed
  • Collaborate with public relations team on internal and external corporate communications, including crisis communications
  • Oversee visual brand including management of designer in development of consistent, high quality collateral
  • Review internal training for new staff members to establish consistent brand standards
  • Create and maintain testimonials
  • Supervise in-house designer and external contractors
  • Coordinate closely with external Knowledge team

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or communications required, advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of marketing experience with 4+ years management experience
  • Proven ability to develop brand and marketing strategies and communicate recommendations
  • Experience managing an organization’s brand and external positioning
  • Experience and proficiency with addressing issues of equity and systemic racism in one’s professional context
  • Ability to effectively supervise/manage team members, including across lines of difference, and build inclusive team environments
  • Stellar verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets
  • High competence in project and stakeholder management
  • Stellar Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint
