Banyan Global is seeking a qualified full-time Communications and Digital Learning Specialist to collaborate with a three-person team to support a learning agenda for the USAID Women’s Economic Empowerment Community of Practice (WEE CoP). The purpose of the learning agenda is to institutionalize women’s economic empowerment to achieve stronger development results. This is position based in Washington, D.C. and will report directly to the WEE CoP Chief of Party and work closely with the Program Officer.

Banyan Global operates within five practice areas: gender, youth, health, economic growth, and monitoring, evaluation and learning. 

Banyan Global is managing a women’s economic empowerment (WEE) Community of Practice (CoP) under the Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) II task order. The CoP was established to a) gather evidence in line with five learning questions identified as part of its Learning Agenda and b) encourage peer learning among its members and sharing of evidence through a variety of online engagement opportunities. Working with the USAID Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Hub (GenDev), the CoP supports USAID contracting/agreement officers, program managers, gender advisors, and technical staff; implementing partners; private sector partners; existing networks and associations; and others from the wider donor and development community to accelerate women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.


  • Develop and disseminate digital women’s economic empowerment learning and communications products. These may include products (technical briefs, one-pagers, infographics, slide decks etc.) developed by Banyan Global and WEE CoP members.
  • Manage and facilitate frequent (approximately one per month) webinars or learning events using virtual information technology platforms (Zoom, Google Meet).
  • Develop and send a monthly communication featuring a member spotlight, resources, events and announcements to the CoP using MailChimp.
  • Foster WEE CoP member engagement through recruiting speakers/facilitators for learning events/webinars, moderating a LinkedIn group, issuing calls for evidence/resources from the CoP, and requesting member information as necessary.
  • Maintain database of WEE CoP member lists in Mailchimp, internal server and in Google Groups.
  • Disseminate learning products to external platforms (Marketlinks, USAID.gov, Agrilinks, and so forth), as needed.
  • Remain abreast of CoP Tier One member activities
  • Liaise closely with the client (GenDev) to develop the CoP’s communications materials, learning products, oversee webinars/learning events, and foster member engagement.
  • Manage approval of all communication and learning products directly with the client.
  • Collect indicator data for contributing to drafting quarterly and annual reports.


  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing digital learning platforms to support knowledge transmission and sharing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing communications products (technical briefs, one-page fact sheets, infographics) to support digital knowledge transmission and sharing.
  • Demonstrated experience MailChimp, Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Workspace (G Suite).
  • Demonstrated experience engaging diverse audiences on a digital platform; ability to tailor messaging to multiple audiences.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, experience editing is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Experience with facilitating virtual communities of practice or ‘knowledge sharing networks’ strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Canva preferred.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
  • Master’s Degree (in Communications preferred).
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in communications or knowledge management preferred.
  • Experience with USAID branding and marking requirements preferred.
