Dress for Success Worldwide is seeking a results-oriented, creative Manager to join the global communications team. Reporting into VP of Global Communications to an existing staff of four, the successful candidate brings drive, focus and enthusiasm and 6-10 years of experience in branding, communications/marketing and/or media relations preferably in a non-profit or creative environment. Responsibilities include media outreach, multiplatform content creation, writing and editing.

The candidate will assist in executing a proactive communication and marketing strategy to enhance appreciation and understanding of Dress for Success’ mission and impact to a variety of audiences including affiliates, corporate sponsors, media, supporters and board members. Ideal candidate works collaboratively and with limited resources creatively and effectively.

Essential Functions

  • Executing Dress for Success’ strategic communications and marketing strategy.
  • Executing global and national publicity campaigns.
  • Developing and delivering on corporate partnership PR strategies.
  • Developing and managing all aspects of campaign microsites and other assets.
  • Writing press releases and other related content.
  • Developing client bios, interviews and speeches.
  • Producing the organization’s Annual Report and other marketing, publicity and creative collateral.
  • Affiliate communications support (Slack and other channels).
  • Creating digital marketing materials.
  • Work closely with Communications Coordinator to support social media function.

  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing effective multifaceted corporate communications strategies.
  • Proven ability to deliver on PR goals and drive visibility to organizations, events, and initiatives.
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Effective relationship builder and collaborator.
  • Proficient in managing multiple, concurrent deadline-driven projects in collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Resourceful self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Highly focused and organized, detail-oriented coupled with strategic and intrapersonal skills.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in media relations, preferably in a non-profit or creative environment
  • Experience on marketing campaigns
  • Graphic design experience (Adobe, Canva)
  • Internal communications a plus 
​​​​​​​Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical work hours; the days are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to
5 p.m. There are times when evenings or weekends may be required due to the nature of the position. Travel is primarily local during the business day, but occasional travel may be required.

Work Environment

Due to COVID-19, this role will function in a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. The work location is New York City. Note that Dress for Success Worldwide has implemented a Mandatory Vaccination Policy and is taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety and health of our employees, volunteers, and clients in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hybrid work schedule will be monitored and assessed on an ongoing basis as we navigate the uncertainty of the pandemic.

Physical Demands

Employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This role entails errands associated with meeting logistics and setup such as supplies runs, setting up materials and refreshments for on-site and off-site meetings, etc.

Work Authorization

Must be able to show eligibility for employment in the United States within three days of hire.
