myWHY Agency is a black-owned, women-led integrated marketing communications agency founded by four-time Emmy Award-winning TV producer Emerald-Jane Hunter. Our team has a record of developing strategic marketing campaigns that grab attention, demand interaction, and generate long-term, impactful value.
With a client list that includes organic and natural CPG brands, health and wellness companies, BIPOC- and women- owned businesses, and nonprofit organizations, myWHY is focused exclusively on serving purpose-driven brands and game-changing industry leaders. WHAT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WOULD LOOK LIKE:
General Account Management
- Serve as the primary project manager for all clients you oversee, ensuring that all projects are on time, on budget and on strategy.
- Prepare for, and co-lead, regularly-scheduled client status calls, and prepare next steps reports/update status reports.
- Ensure that all client requests and communications are responded to in a timely, appropriate fashion.
- Serve as a role model for junior teammates and ensure they are meeting deadlines, executing client-ready work and that they are aware of and working in support of account objectives.
- Keep an eye on bi-weekly results and goals to ensure the account remains on track against objectives.
- Manage up to Account Supervisor ensuring the team is meeting/exceeding client expectations and agency needs.
Media Relations
- Execute a significant share of media outreach/pitch efforts. You’ll be responsible for working together with your AE in ensuring we’re meeting media placement goals for all client accounts. This includes researching and developing contact lists.
- Aid in creating annual/seasonal/monthly outreach plans and ensure clients are onboarded with efforts and teams are briefed on needs.
- Lead the development of pitches, press releases and other outreach collateral, and collaborate with junior staff in responding to daily HARO requests.
- Monitor long lead editorial calendars and seasonal story angles to ensure your clients are being included as needed.
- Monitor for, research and present clients with opportunities for paid influencer engagements and other pay-for-play opportunities, managing client budgets as relevant.
- Monitor and report on client coverage and fact check stories to ensure accuracy.
- Work with clients annually and as necessary to develop hits/impressions goals, and work with the team to develop and deliver comprehensive monthly reporting.
Awards
- Collaborate with junior staff on the development of annual awards and facilitate client discussions on which products to submit to which awards programs.
- Ensure clients are kept abreast of awards submissions and results.
New Business
- Participate in the sales prospecting process by assisting in the development of strategic concepts and activation ideas, contributing to the development of sales materials.
- Represent the agency when attending events on behalf of clients, referring any new connections or leads to the management team.
- Contribute to new business pipeline through existing industry connections and contacts if possible.
Social Media
- Work with the social media team to develop social media strategies and activities on behalf of social media clients, seeking to align larger client objectives and activities with social media activities.
- Work with the social media team to review the monthly content of social media clients, ensuring strategic alignment, brand-appropriateness, etc.
- Actively monitor client’s social media presence, flagging the social media team and clients to any issues, making recommendations for responses as necessary.
- Brainstorm ideas to increase followers, work with influencers, leverage media hits and create custom content to grow the client’s audience.
THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in related fields required.
- 2-3 years of direct experience (beyond internships) in public relations with an emphasis on media relations.
- Advanced skill in pitch and press release writing, copy development and general excellence in written communications is highly desirable.
- Open-minded to problem solving balanced with exceptional follow-through and execution skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.
- Previous experience managing budgets, data entry and project management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as Google Suite including Gmail, google sheets/documents. Media databases, project management software (Asana) social tracking tools, Canva and MailChimp are a bonus.
