SourceAmerica is looking for a talented Communications Manager to join its Communications team in Vienna, VA, which is in the greater Washington, DC metro area.

Job Summary
Our Communications Manager is responsible for promoting SourceAmerica to external audiences The role includes media relations, storytelling and the development of editorial content, and support for campaigns and signature events. A creative and innovative mindset will help raise awareness of our mission. A collaborative communications approach will be used to drive external communications efforts. Here are some of the functions of this job; a full job description will be given to candidates during the interview process.

Essential Functions
  • Lead organization’s national media outreach efforts; build and grow relationships with media
  • Coordinate with Communications team to develop and lead a robust media plan
  • Develop public-facing content including press releases, announcements, letters to the editor, op-eds and more
  • Research, write, and edit feature stories, blogs, speeches, and more to support initiatives while ensuring that content is consistent with SourceAmerica’s brand
  • Manage the video production process to showcase successes
  • Use online tools to monitor media for news related to job industry, SourceAmerica and AbilityOne information pertinent to required reporting; compile daily news brief
  • Monitor results of media outreach and supply metrics as requested
  • Manage SourceAmerica Speakers Bureau engagements and support program management

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited institution in lieu of applicable skills training
  • 7 years of relevant work experience managing media relations, external communications management and strategy creation, and experience establishing the voice of a company or client
  • SourceAmerica recognizes 1½ years’ experience = 1-year college, should a candidate not meet the required education

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience such as experience working for a federal contractor or similarly positioned organization where appropriate media relations and communications are essential to the success of the organization
  • Experience successfully managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Vaccination Requirement
